Fords new electric truck


    Ford unveiled a new type of vehicle being the electric truck the first of the companies kind. This new truck called the Ford electric lightning is a major change in the truck industry. I chose this topic because I feel this is a new trend we will be seeing with many companies going to environmentally friendly options whether that be because of new government mandates on vehicles or because they want to fulfill the demand for an eco friendly alternative to their automotive counterparts.

    The articles main points are to highlight the new features of the truck and explain why people may want to buy this over the classic and best selling truck in the United States the Ford F-150. Surprisingly the article states many benefits to buying this truck over the F-150 and other trucks for that matter. This truck has power speed and high level performance. It has the fastest zero to 60 time of any Ford truck available and can drive 300 miles on a single charge. The article also goes over how big of a shakeup this is for Ford the F-150 has been a staple truck in the United States for many and is the number one selling truck in the country and has been for 44 years with no signs of slowing down. The new electric truck seems to almost be even better and possibly a rival to their own F-150. The electric truck will certainly be in its own class of vehicle as there are not many options for electric trucks on the market, however there is a lot of upcoming competition for Ford in that market as many electric powered trucks have been announced.

    Fords value proposition has been to make peoples lives easier by creating efficient and affordable vehicles. It seems that with this new addition to the Ford lineup they are reaching an even wider audience of people who want to have a new way to travel. The relevance of this marketing scheme is very relevant as electric vehicles have currently been talked about in government and are being pushed as a way to reduce global warming and stop climate change. The President even has goals to make half of vehicles sold to be electric! The challenge they face now is getting the word out and making people enticed to drive an electric vehicle while still feeling like they are driving a traditional truck. I think their marketing approach was good making the truck look very closely to the F-150 and having a good design that wouldn't scare people away who are owners of the current F-150s and not looking for something that looks too different from what they have come to recognize and a Ford truck. The marketing approach was unique in the way that they have never done something like this in the Ford company and it is a new experience for them and the buyers. If I was in charge of the advertisement I would want as much publicity of the new truck as possible, I would have commercials of people testing it out and seeing how it feels and drives compared to the F-150 and I would really try to make the truck seem like an F-150 that many buyers have come to love and just explain the benefits of the new electric power.
